Here’s a great new tool!
I will be the first to admit that I am not a graphic designer. Having worn many hats in my career working with volunteer programs, I am often tasked to create printed or digital content that requires some graphic elements to make it look appealing and professional. Whether it’s for social media, e-newsletters, printed pieces, or volunteer training materials, you name it, I have attempted to do it well. As much as I want to be a better designer, it’s just not a hat I wear well.
ENTER CANVA! One of my new favorite online software programs that is designed for us able bodied, yet graphically challenged volunteer program leaders.
Canva is a simple graphic design software with pre-measured templates and lots of free embellishments that have obviously been developed by some really artistic people. THANK YOU to those artists who have now made my job so much easier. The program is super intuitive and like most online software programs, there is a free version and a paid version. I have found very few limitations with the free version, but I also know the paid one is really affordable.
So the next time you need to create something snazzy for your website, social media, or for a professional presentation. Give this software a try. It will make you look like a pro!
And if you want more help putting together your volunteer training beyond just the visuals, check out our volunteer training page here. You can get some great advice about creating your training as well as a free survey tool to get feedback from your volunteers about your training.
